Apple releases second developer beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.1

Apple on Tuesday provided developers with the second pre-release beta of OS X 10.11.1, a forthcoming maintenance and security update for the yet-to-be-released El Capitan Mac operating system.

OS X 10.11.1 beta 2 is now available to download via the Mac App Store or Apple's developer website. It arrives less than two weeks after the first beta was supplied to developers.

The second beta of OS X 10.11.1 is identified as build 15B22c. Apple has said the update will focus on stability, compatibility, and security.

Mac owners will get the official public release of OS X 10.11 El Capitan on Wednesday. It will be a free update on the Mac App Store, and is compatible with all systems that can run OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

New features in El Capitan include Split View, an enhanced Mission Control, a cursor spotting feature, better fullscreen view in Mail, an improved Notes app, the ability to quickly spot and mute tabs in Safari, and other general refinements and tweaks.
