SlingTV arrives on Apple TV, Fox Sport Go, Molotov.tv, others coming soon

Last updated

At WWDC 2016 on Monday, Apple SVP of Internet Software Eddy Cue threw a spotlight on a few new tvOS apps including popular streaming services SlingTV, which launched today, and French video app Molotov.tv, among others

In addition to the video streaming services, Cue said Fox Sports Go is due to arrive on fourth-generation Apple TVs later this year. At least three big game franchises — NBA 2K, Minecraft Story Mode and Sketch Party — are set to arrive on the big screen later this year.

As expected, Apple is quickly building out its app platform for the living room. Since its debut alongside Apple TV in October, the tvOS App Store has grown to include a catalog of more than 6,000 native apps, over 1,300 of which are video streaming titles.

Cue also detailed a number of upcoming tvOS features, not the least of which being the highly anticipated debut of streamlined cable provider account logins Single sign-on.

This is what AppleTV and SlingTV should look like.

After all, we know why Apple can't get TV Networks onboard, and why SlingTV is cripple.

If you're smart enough, then you'll know why.
