Vine gains offline viewing mode, Camera+ gets widget support in latest updates

With its latest release, Vine is rolling out a major feature that starts downloading content in the background, including a user's home feed, activity notifications and videos in the Explore section.

In addition, to speed up time to access, the app now uses network caching and sports a smaller video file size for those with slower connections. For some, Vine can slow down to a snail's pace when streaming over wireless data networks.

Combined, the features offer a snappier and more persistent user experience.

Popular third-party photography app Camera+ also received a substantial update today that brings iOS 8 widget support, a native user interface for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and more.

The Notification Center widget grants access to Camera+ from anywhere in iOS, meaning users can whip out their iPhone and snap away even from the lock screen. Camera+ also provides "Photo Quotes of the Day" from its widget, which can be enabled from the app's Extensions menu.

Manual white balance control is also included with the latest app version, while direct photo sharing through Instagram means users no longer have to rely on iOS 8 extensibility options.

Finally, Camera+ now supports native iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus resolutions, meaning iOS will no longer have to automatically scale the app's user interface.
