Amtrak adds Apple Pay to website, mobile app

Amtrak adds Apple Pay support to app and website

Apple Pay and other payment providers like Google Pay and PayPal are now options when checking out on Amtrak's website or when using the mobile app.

Amtrak announced on Tuesday that it has added support for multiple payment platforms to its website and app. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal are available and users can set a default payment service for their account.

Roger Harris, Executive VP, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer at Amtrak spoke about the update. He emphasized that customers look for convenience and flexibility when buying tickets.

"We know every minute counts for our customers and now purchasing tickets is as simple as the touch of a button," said Harris. "These updates to the Amtrak app and website will offer customers enhanced flexibility and convenience as they book and pay for train tickets."

Customers who buy Amtrak tickets digitally will present their ticket to conductors to be scanned for a contact-free experience. Apple users can get a full Amtrak experience when using Apple Maps as well, as their routes are included in the transit search. What's up with the backwards flag?
It originated in the Army: “The American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward.”

A lot of non-military entities have also adopted the practice.
