Apple TV+ series "Surface," which is described as an elevated psychological thriller and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, will debut on the platform on July 29, the company announced.
The eight-episode thriller series is set in high-end San Francisco. Mbatha-Raw stars as Sophie, a woman who is experiencing extreme memory loss from a traumatic head injury believed to be the result of a suicide attempt. However, not all is as it seems.
"As Sophie embarks on a quest to put the pieces of her life back together with the help of her husband and friends, she begins to question whether or not the truth she is told is in fact the truth she has lived," Apple wrote of the series. "Through twists and turns and an unexpected love triangle, this sexy, elevated thriller asks: What if you woke up one day and didn't know your own secrets?"
Alongside Mbatha-Raw, the ensemble cast also includes Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Stephan James, Ari Graynor, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Francois Arnaud, and Millie Brady.
"Surface" is made for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios and Hello Sunshine. Mbatha-Raw serves as executive producer, along with Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, and Sam Miller, who also directed four episodes of the series.
The first three episodes of the series will debut on Friday, July 29, with the remaining episodes coming out on a weekly basis every Friday after that.
