The final release of watchOS 8.7 featuring bug fixes is now available to download.
The public release of watchOS 8.7 includes bug fixes and under-the-hood improvements for the Apple Watch. Apple has not provided any details on public-facing features for the software.
Like with all releases of watchOS 8, it will be compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later models, as well as Apple Watch SE.
More major feature releases are expected with watchOS 9, which was announced at WWDC 2022. It is scheduled to arrive in the fall and will drop support for the Apple Watch Series 3.
Apple released the third developer beta for watchOS 9 on July 6. The release candidate of watchOS 8.7 was pushed out to registered developers on July 12.

Looks like Apple fixed Apple Watch 6 going torch screen this updated. Usually happened for me when I put my watch on, but I try and change the screen and it turn off the max brightness. So far took off my watch twice, and no max brightness. Luckily, I haven't encountered the dead screens other have (which I know there is a free repair for dead screen).
