M2 iPad Pro, Apple Pencil woes, redesigned 10.9-inch iPad

iPad Pro gets M2 in a spec bump update

Apple's redesigned iPad and updated iPad Pro models have shaken up the whole iPad range. Your AppleInsider Podcast hosts look at whether that's good or bad — plus what Apple is doing with its two new Apple TV 4K editions.

Apple's introduction of a new entry-level iPad has created a stir in the tech industry. Not only is it more expensive than the 9th-generation model it replaces, but it is only compatible with the original Apple Pencil despite having a USB-C port.

Your hosts discuss where this new iPad fits in and how Apple's tablet line seems to now be in flux. Apple also introduced updated iPad Pro models, but their headline feature is the iPad processor, and neither of them got the new landscape-oriented FaceTime camera.

The new Apple TV 4K is cheaper than ever, but Thread and Gigabit Ethernet are limited to the more expensive model. Apple's shift to regular Apple TV hardware updates is seen as a positive move for the category, and USB-C in the Siri Remote is a no brainer.

Also, Humane seems ready to kill the smartphone by releasing their own product that totally isn't a smartphone — probably.
