Apple has unveiled its 2022 Black Friday deals, and as always they are paltry gift cards that only apply to subsequent purchases. Here's what's on offer, and where you can get actual and better discounts instead.
Following on from its new Holiday Gift Guide 2022, Apple has announced that its Black Friday sale runs November 25, 2022 to November 28. Almost all Apple devices are included in the offers, but not all — and nothing for the iPhone 14.
Significantly, where buying the Apple Watch SE during the period means getting a $50 Apple Gift Card, there is no such amount for the Apple Watch Ultra. Nor for the Apple Watch Series 8.
Similarly, there is no offer of a Gift Card with the purchase of an Apple TV 4K, iPad Pro, or Mac Studio. And only the second generation Apple Pencil gets a Gift Card included.
Apple's Black Friday offerings are:
- $50 Gift Card with Phone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, or iPhone SE
- Up to $75 Gift Card with AirPods Pro (2nd generation), AirPods (2nd generation), AirPods (3rd generation) with Lightning Charging Case, or AirPods Max.
- $50 with Apple Watch SE
- $50 with iPad Air, iPad, or iPad mini.
- Up to $250 Gift Card with MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, or iMac
- Up to $50 with Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro or iPad Air, Smart Keyboard Folio, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), or MagSafe Duo Charger
- Up to $50 with Studio3 Wireless, Solo3 Wireless, Powerbeats Pro, Beats Fit Pro, Beats Studio Buds, or Beats Flex

Better deals on iPhones
Sometimes it's not just a case of whether you can get any money off an Apple device, it's whether you can get the device at all. That's at least likely to be the case with the new iPhone 14 range, as Apple is struggling to keep up with demand.
That's all the more reason, then, to leaving checking out the Apple Store to everyone else, while you investigate stocks from other resellers. And that would be stocks that include discounts.
Pre-Black Friday iPhone deals
- AT&T: Save up to $800* on the iPhone 14 with select trade-ins or get an iPhone 12 mini for $1*
- Verizon: Free with trade* iPhone 14 Pro offer, savings on iPhone 13 models
- Visible: Purchase an iPhone 14, Pro or Pro Max and receive up to a $250 prepaid gift card & Beats Studio Buds — but do check the terms and conditions on the Visible site first.
- Trade-in: Lock in the best price with your Apple trade-in
Shop around for the best bargains
Deals do move and change rapidly, perhaps especially around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But invariably, it's third-party companies that give actual discounts on Apple gear, rather than Gift Cards for future purchases.
If you know you're going to be buying from Apple again soon, its Gift Cards could work out, well, adequately. However, you can nearly always do better by shopping around, and keeping an eye on the AppleInsider deal guides.

Okay, here’s my personal opinion. I have never purchased any major Apple product anywhere but from Apple, either online or in an Apple Store. Why? Because I have never had an issue with product registration, AppleCare or AppleCare+ activation, warranty acceptance, proof of purchase, proof of AppleCare coverage, or anything else. On the other hand I have read some real horror stories of people who bought from some third party reseller because of some too good to be true discount they were going to get. When spending this kind of money I choose two operate by the better-safe-than-sorry principal.
No mention of iPhone 14 in any of the deals. It’s as if it doesn’t even exist in Apple’s product lineup.
Could Apple gift card be used purchasing Apple products from any places?
