Harry Styles AirPods ad & Ted Lasso pick up nominations for 2023 Webby Awards

Apple has been nominated for the 27th annual Webby Awards for the popular AirPods ad with Harry Styles, as well as gaining nods for "Ted Lasso," "The Problem with Jon Stewart," and two apps.

The Webby Awards are awarded to excellence on the internet, presented annually by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. Categories include websites, online videos, mobile apps, and advertising.

The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences members and the general public participating in the Webby People's Voice voting choose one winner in each category.

The International Academy will announce the winners on April 25, and Apple has been chosen in a few categories. In one nomination, the AirPods ad with Harry Styles was among the selected for Best Individual Performance, Performances & Craft (Video).

Apple released the ad in 2022, which features a colorfully silhouetted Styles singing "Music for a Sushi Restaurant" alongside a cast of dancers. The style of the ad is reminiscent of Apple's old iPod commercials.

Later, Styles donated his fee from the appearance to a humanitarian aid organization working to help refugees from Ukraine.

Apple appears in other nominations for the 27th annual Webby Awards as well. According to Deadline, other listings include the Apple Podcasts app for Best User Experience, the Apple TV app for Entertainment & Sports, FIFA 23 and Ted Lasso for Best Partnership or Collaboration in advertising, and "The Problem with Jon Stewart" from Apple TV+ for Best Copywriting and Craft.

The Academy also nominated the Apple TV app from CNN for Best User Interface.
