Apple Vision Pro users may have noticed that most pre-installed Apple apps can't be deleted, but that changes with visionOS 1.1.
Apple includes 15 pre-installed visionOS native apps, and only two could be deleted in the 1.0 release, Keynote and Encounter Dinosaurs. With visionOS 1.1, Apple allows users to delete eight other apps.
According to code discovered by AppleInsider in the visionOS 1.1 Release Candidate, users can now delete Apple TV, Music, Mindfulness, Freeform, Notes, Mail, Files, and Tips. That leaves Safari, Photos, Messages, and the App Store unremovable.
There isn't any form of organization for apps on visionOS. The only folder is one added by Apple, filled with compatible apps initially built for iOS or iPadOS.
The first page is reserved for pre-installed Apple apps. Each page that follows is filled with third-party apps sorted alphabetically.
Deleting pre-installed apps doesn't provide much advantage to the user beyond cosmetics since they don't take up much storage space.
visionOS 1.1 will be released alongside iOS 17.4 and the other updates soon since these updates contain changes critical to complying with the EU's DMA. The deadline for complying with the DMA is March 6, so expect visionOS 1.1 before then.
