US sues Apple, Epic complaints, and no iPads just yet on the AppleInsider Podcast

The DOJ is going to occupy Apple's attention, but still new iPads are coming

Apple is under fire from the US Department of Justice, plus iPads are coming, and it sounds as if there is a lot to look forward to with AirPods and AirPods Max, all on this week's episode of the AppleInsider podcast.

New subscriber bonus: Listeners who subscribe via Apple Podcast Subscriptions or Patreon now get an extra AppleInsider+. Each week we put away the news and look at something else that affects us all.

Apple is taking a beating from all sides now, as the Department of Justice sues it on antitrust measures that range from simply factually incorrect, to slightly odd. Yet maybe it's the very act of the DoJ investigating that has led Apple to improve its terms for developers.

And, no Apple improvement will ever be enough for Epic Games. But, the latest legal moves by the Fortnite developer show startling, practically laughable hypocrisy.

Yet if Epic Games, the DoJ, and also the EU, are going to occupy Tim Cook's every waking hour for months or even years, what we really want now is the expected launch of new iPads. They aren't here yet, but even rumors that disagree over the date are certain that they're coming soon.

Plus Apple is looking to licence Gemini AI from Google — it's a logical step, possibly a confession that Apple can't do AI, or perhaps somewhere in between the two.
