Apple will dramatically reduce the cost of speaker repair in the Apple Silicon 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch MacBook Pro, ending the longstanding need to buy a whole replacement top case.
The replacement of damaged speakers in these MacBook Pro models remains complex, but self-service repair will as much as 90% cheaper than at present. It's entirely because standalone speaker repair parts will be released soon.
Consequently, users will not have to pay for a replacement battery, the MacBook Pro's top casing, or other unrelated components. As first spotted by MacRumors, this will be the first time that MacBook Pro speakers have been directly repairable since 2015.
Apple is also expected to make the parts available to order through its US self-service repair store.
Updated repair manuals have also been published by Apple. With the instructions, the correct tools and components from the repair store, users can now attempt the speaker repair repair themselves.

I've had a 2016 and a 2019 15" Macbook Pro that both had the speakers crap out after a couple years. One side would only play high frequencies, and the other side would only play low frequencies. I don't use the speakers all that much, I don't know what could be the cause. Luckily I was able to get them both repaired, which did mean a full top case replacement, so I got a fresh battery, keyboard, trackpad, and on the 2016 model a new SSD too. Worked out pretty well for me in the end, although it was annoying that they needed the repair at all. It sounds like I'm not the only one who's had speaker problems!
Of all the Macs I've had, I've never had faulty parts except for my first iBook (around 2002) where the screen hinge would gnaw away at the cable over time. That was fixed under warranty.
The only problem I had over 20-years were faulty Nvidia graphics cards and one MBP fan.
