Apple has released watchOS 11.4

Last updated

After a very brief period of availability cited on Apple's website, Apple has pulled the watchOS 11.4 release.

The only notable feature in watchOS 11.4 is a brand new "Break Through Silent Mode" option in Sound & Haptics. This means that if you wear your Apple Watch to bed, sound and haptics will play regardless of whether or not Silent Mode is toggled on.

Previous to this, if Silent Mode was enabled, the Apple Watch would only use haptics as part of its alarm.

Like many of the other OS updates rolling out, the Apple Watch has Matter support for robotic vacuums and mops. Users can use their voice to tell the vacuum to start or stop cleaning, to return to its dock, to enable or disable the mopping function, and to switch cleaning modes.

And, as always, Apple has included a fair number of quality-of-life updates for the Apple Watch, such as fixing bugs and enhancing the system's underlying stability and performance. Updates like these are crucial for maintaining the smooth operation of the devices and ensuring that new features introduced in previous versions operate at their best.

In September 2024, Apple unveiled watchOS 11, introducing several notable enhancements to the Apple Watch. New features included customizable Activity Rings, advanced health monitoring capabilities through the Vitals app, and a new Training Load tool specifically designed for athletes.

The watchOS 11.4 update is build number 22T251.

Just got off the phone with AppleCare and evidently there is no update for the watch. TV, HomePod, phone, iPad, Mac, all updated without issues but I get the message in the watch app on the phone ”watch is up to date with watch OS 11.3.1”

I’m confused - If I go to bed with my Apple Watch on and put it on silent, why would I want to get alerts that I’m trying to avoid with the silent mode?

Was wondering the same thing, unless the article is referring to  an alarm for waking you up in the morning?
