TechWoven, the alleged iPhone 17 replacement for FineWoven, has been shown off in more photographs revealing what is claimed to be its retail packaging.
On Tuesday, serial leaker Majin Bu posted pictures of a case that will allegedly ship for the iPhone 17. The case, an apparent replacement to the disappointing FineWoven line, was referred to as "TechWoven."
While the original leak gave a close-up of the case and showed off some of the fabrics, Wednesday's update tries to sell the rumor a bit more. The new posting to Majin Bu's website is a group shot of the new cases, in five different colors.
The colors are listed as Black, Brown, Blue, Green, and Purple. They are also shown in supposed packaging for the cases, one for each colorway.
The the packaging appears to be fairly typical of Apple's efforts, including the rear information. However, the poor quality of the photographs doesn't help determine whether it is real or manufactured for the rumor.
As well as the fabric and a non-slip texture, Bu adds that the feature list includes MagSafe compatibility and two lanyard holes.
While not mentioned by Bu in the text, the packaging shots also seem to disclose another product. There is mention of compatibility with a "Crossbody Strap."
The way that Crossbody Strap is formatted with first-letter capitalization on the packaging indicates it would be an Apple product in its own right. However, it has yet to be mentioned by the rumor mill.
Not a great source
While the new leak does a lot of heavy lifting to make the TechWoven claim seem true, it's still not guaranteed. It is still entirely plausible for the packaging to be faked for rumors, even at this late time.
Add in Majin Bu's questionable history for rumors, driven in part by leaking in volume rather than striving for accuracy, and it makes the claim a little less believable. There is a desperate need for corroborative claims elsewhere in the rumor ecosystem for this to become a firmer story.
The previous TechWoven leak from Bu may have been a cast-off from production, one that lacked precision when it comes to Apple's stamped Apple logo. This led to doubts about the image being genuine.
The timing of the case leak is also odd, as it's barely a few weeks before the expected iPhone 17 launch. By contrast, FineWoven murmurs came from the supply chain in May and June, far earlier than TechWoven.
Bu has also released photographs that have been questionable in nature, to the point of withdrawal. One claimed iPhone 17 Air battery was retracted and reframed as a battery for the iPhone 17 Pro.
