Photos claiming to show Apple's Crossbody Strap accessory for the iPhone 17 look pretty good, but they also contradict earlier leaks from the same source.

A new crossbody strap accessory said to be from Apple and promoted by leaker Majin Bu, is supposed to launch with the iPhone 17 in September 2025. But there's a major problem — it literally doesn't work the way it's described.

The photos depict a nylon strap with magnetic ends, but there isn't a visible mounting point on an iPhone case for it to connect. Without an attachment system, the entire concept falls apart.

Apple's accessories always rely on deliberate mounting. For instance, MagSafe has magnets embedded in the phone, while Apple Watch bands slide into machined grooves. A strap without an anchor point is not only unusual but also nonfunctional.

Inconsistent with TechWoven

MajinBu's own TechWoven packaging leak showed a different iPhone case design with a small lanyard loop. That at least made sense for keychains or short cords.

The Crossbody Strap rumor suggests a full-body sling, but a thin lanyard thread isn't suitable for supporting the weight, and there are no reinforced holes for leaks. The presence of two leaks shows an inconsistency.

The strap is designed with a flexible magnetic core and polarized ends for secure attachment. However, without case hardware to accommodate those magnets, it remains ineffective.

Bu has previously said that his images are of third-party knock-offs, said to be cloned from Apple's official accessories.. Many accessory makers in Asia produce straps and cases well before Apple's announcements, and labeling them as "Apple leak" is clickbait.

Adding to the skepticism

The strap rumor also clashes with other reporting. A TechWoven video leak surfaced recently, showing case designs that again didn't match the Crossbody Strap idea. And AppleInsider's earlier piece on TechWoven cases emphasized how shaky MajinBu's record can be.

That track record matters here. When leaks contradict one another, the simplest answer is usually that at least one of them is wrong. If Apple does in fact launch such a strap in September 2025, and has TechWoven cases at the same time, something didn't "leak" right.

To date, there has been no back up of the TechWoven rumor from any other leak source. The leak mostly makes sense, though, which is why we've given this a "possible" rating. The mismatched details are a problem, though.

However, when FineWoven leaked, after the initial report, there were two other accounts talking about it, with different media within a week.
