On the day iPhone Air preorders began, Apple has now shared details on how much it will cost to repair outside of warranty. You should probably consider AppleCare+.

Repairing an iPhone is always a costly endeavor, especially if you go the Apple Store route. Third-party repair shops are often available, but you never really know whether the new components are legitimate Apple ones.

You don't have that issue at an Apple Store, but the figures are often eyewatering. And the iPhone Air is no different.

All of the most common repairs are now listed on Apple's iPhone Repair and Service webpage. Fees for a broken back glass, a cracked screen, and more are all included.

According to Apple, iPhone Air owners can expect to pay the following should they need a repair:

  • Cracked screen (front only): $329
  • Back glass damage: $159
  • Cracked screen and back glass damage: $419
  • Replacement battery: $119
  • Rear camera replacement: $169
  • Other damage: $699

The "other damage" repair is likely a full replacement device, so it's perhaps no surprise that it almost reaches the $999 it costs to buy a brand new iPhone Air.

While these figures largely match current and previous iPhone repair costs, it's clear that AppleCare+ remains a great value. Those with AppleCare+ coverage will see the prices fall to between $29 and $99, with battery replacements often entirely free.

AppleCare+ for iPhone Air is available for $13.99 per month or $139.99 for the year and includes theft and loss coverage. Alternatively, $19.99 per month for AppleCare One covers up to three Apple devices.

The iPhone Air is available for preorder now and will officially go on sale on September 19 alongside the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
