The steady rollout of Tap to Pay on iPhone has continued with Apple now saying it has launched in five more countries across Europe.

First launched in the US in May 2022, this is the feature that lets vendors take payments using solely their iPhones. Previously they've needed separate card readers such as Zettle, so it's a more convenient system and particularly for smaller businesses.

Apple has now announced that the feature has come to the following further countries and specific financial partners:

  • Estonia: SumUp and Revolut
  • Latvia: SumUp
  • Lithuania: SumUp and Revolut
  • Monaco: Adyen and BNP Paribas
  • Norway: Adyen, Nexi, PayPal, Stripe, SumUp, Surfboard Payments, and Viva.com

Tap to Pay on iPhone obviously works with Apple Pay, but it also accepts American Express, Visa, Mastercard, and others. In Norway, it also works with Surfboard Payments.

"As more and more consumers are tapping to pay with digital wallets and credit cards," Jennifer Bailey, Apple's vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, said at the 2022 launch in the US, "Tap to Pay on iPhone will provide businesses with a secure, private, and easy way to accept contactless payments and unlock new checkout experiences using the power, security, and convenience of iPhone."

Following this launch, plus May 2025's expansion to eight other EU countries, Apple says that Tap to Pay on iPhone is now available in 43 territories.
