Apple's website tracking which states support its digital driver's license in Apple Wallet has updated to include North Dakota, so expect it to be added soon.

The rollout for digital IDs and driver's licenses in Apple Wallet has been glacial at best. Apple revealed the feature in 2021, and only 11 states have participated with limited uses of the feature.

Apple has updated its Apple Wallet webpage to show North Dakota is supported, which was first spotted by MacRumors.

North Dakota hasn't appeared in the Apple Wallet app itself, but it should imminently. There is a note suggesting that the state Department of Transportation requires a $5 fee to add the digital license to Apple Wallet.

The following states support adding digital IDs to Apple Wallet:

Adding the license or ID to Apple Wallet doesn't provide much utility, and it varies per state. In most cases, it is useful as an option during TSA check-in, but it doesn't count as an alternative to a physical ID, at least not yet.

Buying alcohol or getting pulled over at a traffic stop will still require a physical ID or license in all states. The dream of not needing the physical card is still a long way off.

To add an ID or license to Apple Wallet, simply go to the Wallet app and tap the "+" button. Expect the option for North Dakota to appear soon.
