Apple CEO Tim Cook says the long awaited Apple Intelligence boosted Siri will arrive on time in 2026, suggesting that Apple's delayed AI ambitions are back on track.

On Thursday, Cook told MSNBC that he believes Apple Intelligence features are on track for a 2026 rollout. This is notable as Apple had quit giving timelines for many of its missing AI features after repeated stalls in development.

And while "2026" is hardly a precise deadline, it may signal that Apple has finally worked out the kinks in its Apple Intelligence pipeline.

Better late than never

Apple has faced numerous challenges during its push into artificial intelligence. Not only did Apple arrive relatively late to the game as compared to competitors, but it also released features at a glacial pace.

And the company has had trouble deploying one of its most highly advertised Apple Intelligence features: an enhanced, personalized Siri.

The company had heavily promoted Apple Intelligence enhanced Siri at both WWDC 2024 and that year's September iPhone event. However, more than a year later, it has still failed to launch.

The enhanced Siri was delayed because the company found that it only worked properly about two-thirds of the time. The company passed the blame around a fair amount, and even wound up doing a bit of corporate reshuffling.
