Fans of Major League Soccer will no longer need an MLS Season Pass to watch games in 2026, as Apple has decided to make MLS content free for Apple TV subscribers.
Following the publication of a rumor earlier on Thursday, Apple has now confirmed that users with an Apple TV subscription will gain access to MLS games at no additional charge in 2026.
Apple TV subscribers will be able to watch regular-season matches, Leagues Cup games, the MLS All-Star Game, the Campeones Cup, and MLS Cup Playoffs for free.
At the time of writing, and throughout the remainder of the 2025 season, Major League Soccer enthusiasts are required to pay $14.99 for an MLS Season Pass subscription. This is on top of the $12.99 a month Apple charges for an Apple TV subscription.
2026 full-season ticket packages with MLS clubs will now also include an Apple TV subscription. Those subscribed to Apple's streaming service will be able to access studio programming along with a variety of complementary on-demand content, including live matches.
Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Services, said that the company is "thrilled to bring MLS to more fans around the world next season on Apple TV," adding that the move is "a win for fans everywhere."
"Bringing every MLS match to Apple TV takes that vision to the next level by making it easier than ever for fans everywhere to watch, connect, and be part of the game," explained Don Garber, the commissioner of Major League Soccer.
While all MLS games will be available to Apple TV subscribers for free in 2026, users subscribed to the service already have access to MLS Playoff games. The iPhone maker has also had a variety of MLS-related free trials and streaming events over the years.
An Apple TV subscription currently delivers various other sports-related content, including Friday Night Baseball. Subscribers in the United States have access to Formula 1 race weekends as well.
Apple recently renamed its streaming service from "AppleTV+" to just AppleTV, which has caused some confusion. The company even went so far as to create a new logo, made using real glass.
It remains to be seen whether or not Apple will seek to recover the costs of streaming MLS games for free. In theory, the iPhone maker could do so by increasing the price of a monthly Apple TV subscription, though no such change has been announced so far.
