Apple VP for Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives Lisa Jackson has been removed from Apple's Leadership page, as the executive heads off into retirement.
In December, Apple confirmed that Lisa Jackson was retiring in late January 2026, after almost 13 years at the company. On Friday, it confirmed the executive change by updating the Apple Leadership page to remove Jackson's listing.
While the removal of the leadership profile is a big indicator of executive role updates, it isn't a confirmation that Jackson has fully retired yet. It's possible that she has already retired, but it could also be a change in preparation for retirement later in the month.
At the time of the December retirement announcement, Apple said that Jackson's role will be broken up and shared between two executives.
The Government Affairs organization will shift to Apple's general counsel Kate Adams, who will also be retiring in March. At that time, the role will be transferred to Jennifer Newstead, who will also become SVP, General Counsel and Government Affairs, on March 1, reporting to CEO Tim Cook.
The Environment and Social Initiatives teams will report to Apple COO Sabih Khan.
"I am deeply appreciative of Lisa's contributions. She has been instrumental in helping us reduce our global greenhouse emissions by more than 60 percent compared to 2015 levels," said Cook at the time of the retirement announcement.
The CEO continued, "She has also been a critical strategic partner in engaging governments around the world, advocating for the best interests of our users on a myriad of topics, as well as advancing our values, from education and accessibility to privacy and security."
Jackson's comments called Apple a "remarkable company," declaring it to have been a "true honor" to lead the firm's important work.
"I have been lucky to work with leaders who understand that reducing our environmental impact is not just good for the environment, but good for business, and that we can do well by doing good," she continued. "And I am incredibly grateful to the teams I've had the privilege to lead at Apple, for the innovations they've helped create and inspire, and for the advocacy they've led on behalf of our users with governments around the world."
Formerly the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency under President Barack Obama from 2029 to 2013, Jackson was hired in 2013 to oversee Apple's environmental initiatives. The role was expanded in 2015, making her responsible for policy initiatives including worldwide government affairs, education, accessibility, and social concerns.
