The HomeHub will be able to stick to a wall using a MagSafe-like connection, a questionable leak says, with the Apple Home controller set to use Apple Intelligence to monitor your front door.

Apple is rumored to be working on a smart home device that will be a central part of the Apple Home. Building on top of speculation that a fall releaseis on the cards, more details have surfaced about the device's functionality.

According to prototype collector Kosutami via X, they have seen prototypes of the device, which they refer to as the HomePad. For one version of the hardware, it has an unusual feature in being able to be attached to a wall.

For a smart home device, this isn't entirely a bad idea, as smart thermostats exist on a wall too. However, Kosutami says that one prototype has a "Snap-to-wall" feature, allowing it to be mounted to a vertical surface.

This would be produced by magnets, with the leaker saying it be like MagSafe. This could potentially mean that the connection is providing power to the HomeHub as well as anchoring it to the wall.

The leaker adds that it will have Apple Intelligence integration. This certainly correlates with other earlier HomeHub rumors that it would be a tablet-like device with a screen, and inherent Siri-like control over apps and functions running within the home.

Doorbell

The leaker's account also adds that it will be able to manage the user's front doorbell. This is presumably in relation to an earlier rumor from the same social media account about the in-development smart doorbell.

For that device, Kosutami said in late February that it will have "MagSafe on your door." The description was confusing, as it could mean that it adds MagSafe charging to the front door to quickly recharge your iPhone, or it could be magnetically attached to your door frame.

This latter possibility is unlikely, as it would open up the device to being stolen very easily.

Earlier rumors on the smart doorbell include claims that it will use Home Key and Face ID for security instead of a traditional key. Ringing the doorbell will also alert all Apple devices connected to the home, and will apparently ring AirPods too.

As a leaker, Kosutami has a relatively short but strong history. A lot of what has been shared has been accurate, such as previewing Apple Watch FineWoven bandsbefore release, and the iPhone 16's graphene heat dissipation addition.

There have been errors too, such as sharing alternate Apple Watch connectors in 2023, but being wrong in asserting they would be implemented the following year.

Other things that have been shown off in the relatively recent past include black Apple Vision Pro components with an understanding that they were for a cheaper "Air" model, as well as a large glass cover for a supposed HomePod with a display.
