Two new products have gone on sale from Aqara, including the world's first Matter-certified camera. For Apple Home users, that Matter support means very little today.

After being previewed at CES 2026, the Aqara G400 video doorbell and Aqara G350 indoor camera are both available to purchase. The G350 has the honor of being the very first camera to be certified Matter compatible.

Even though cameras were added to the Matter spec in late 2025, Aqara is officially the first to market with the G350.

The Aqara G350 is a 4K indoor camera with a dual-lens setup. It will automatically switch between lenses for 1X, 3X, or 9X hybrid zoom.

It can rotate a full 360 degrees and can tilt both up and down. If motion is detected by a person or a pet, it can automatically rotate around the room to follow them.

There is a microSD card slot, which is useful for local recording and shows the slot when the device is put into privacy mode and hides the camera lenses. You can use the local storage, Aqara's cloud, Apple HomeKit Secure Video, and more for video clips.

This particular camera is also able to act as a hub. It can be a Thread router, a Zigbee hub, or a Matter hub. Speaking of Matter, right now, that part is largely negligible for Apple users.

Thus far, only Samsung SmartThings has added support for Matter 1.5 cameras. Since the camera natively supports Apple Home, the vast majority of Apple users will get no added benefit from Matter camera support.

The only tangible benefit is for those who live in a multi-platform home and have Samsung SmartThings running at the same time as Apple Home. If you plan on adding some sort of smart display that can support Matter cameras, that would be beneficial, but it's a lot of pieces to line up that don't currently exist.

That's not to say that this isn't an excellent camera. It is worth purchasing on its own merits as a high-performance indoor security camera that works with Apple Home out of the box.

Matter does have real benefits for cameras. When Apple does add Matter camera support, we would likely gain support for higher-resolution video (above 1080p), zoom options, and pan-tilt controls.

It should also make it easier for manufacturers to create cameras that work with all ecosystems. We should get more cameras that come Matter-certified and automatically support HomeKit Secure Video and Apple Home out of the gate, increasing the number of available options.

You can pick up the Aqara G350 with HomeKit Secure Video for $139 on Amazon.

More than just a new indoor camera

Aqara is also releasing its new G400 smart video doorbell camera. Compared to the G4 and G410 that can be run off of six AA batteries, the G400 must be hardwired into power.

The Aqara G400 is a 2K head-to-toe video doorbell

It has connections on the back for standard low voltage doorbell wires, or you can use a PoE, which means you'll never have to worry about internet or power on the doorbell.

There is a microSD slot on the doorbell itself, and it includes a separate indoor chime you plug in inside your home. The G410 chime doubles as a hub, but here it does not.

It has 2K video footage with a 1536 x 2048 resolution for head-to-toe coverage. It also supports 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi, has a 165-degree field of view, and supports all major ecosystem platforms.

You can use it without any subscription at all for motion alerts, live streaming, two-way communication, and store your footage locally. Alternatively, you can use any of the cloud options, including Aqara or Apple's HomeKit Secure Video that is included with your iCloud+ plan.

If you subscribe to Aqara's Home Guardian program, you can also unlock many AI features, such as plain-text descriptions of what motion it detects or granular notifications. Many of these are processed locally and don't require cloud processing.

The Aqara G400 is available now on Amazon for $99.
