A new leaker who previously claimed to have photos of a smaller iPhone 18 Dynamic Island, is now showing CAD renders of the same thing and calling this proof.

It's not as if it's impossible that the iPhone 18 range will feature a reduced Dynamic Island, as very many previous rumors have also claimed this, even if some have seemed to be wishful thinking. But now leaker @EarlyAppleLeaks on X claims that his or her own reports are now confirmed.

However, this confirmation just means that the purportedly newly leaked CAD designs match the previous leak. The same @earlyappleleaks insists that this previous leak was a photo of a true iPhone 18, so a CAD image is a step backwards.

There is of course no detail of where the CAD image came from, and no further information than before. But the leaker again claims that this smaller Dynamic Island will come to every model in the iPhone 18 range.

This leaker has only that one previous leak in their track record, and there will be no way to assess its accuracy until Apple launches the new iPhones in September.

As well as @earlyappleleaks having effectively no track record, X and most social media sources tend to have a poor reputation for accuracy. Most are repeating information gleaned from other social media sources, although in this case @earlyappleleaks appears to be the first.

While the CAD images do not show this, the previous photograph leak appeared to show the iPhone 18's infrared sensor will be moved to the left. That would presumably allow for a smaller Dynamic Island.

This also fits with other rumors, although this is an area where leakers have been disagreeing with each other.

Yet these same rumors, and these same disagreements, have been circulating since at least February 2025. At that point, it was repeatedly claimed and also denied, that the iPhone 17 would get this smaller Dynamic Island.

Going even further back, there have been rumors that Apple would move to an under-display system. Those first arose when the iPhone X introduced a notch in 2017, and continued when the Dynamic Island came out in 2022.
