Apple TV+ orders travel series hosted by Eugene Levy

Last updated

Apple TV+ on Monday announced a series order for "The Reluctant Traveler," a fish-out-of-water travel series hosted by "Schitt's Creek" star Eugene Levy.

Starring Levy as the eponymous reluctant traveler, the upcoming show introduces viewers to the world's most remarkable hotels and the people, places and cultures that surround them, Apple says.

"Levy will be packing his suitcase with some trepidation but hoping his experiences might lead to a whole new chapter in his life — that's as long as he doesn't have to battle his motion sickness, and still gets dinner at 7," a press release reads.

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Twofour, with Levy executive producing alongside David Brindley.

A longtime comedic actor, Levy most recently co-created and starred in "Schitt's Creek." His performance earned two Emmy nominations for best actor in a comedy series, an award he won in the show's sixth and final season in 2020.

As noted by Variety, Levy has appeared in a number of films including the "American Pie" franchise and multiple Christopher Guest features including "Best in Show" and "A Mighty Wind."

"The Reluctant Traveler" adds to Apple's growing slate of documentary content. Original series include "Tiny World," "Long Way Up," "Earth at Night" and "The Me You Can't See," while the streaming service won rights to non-fiction specials "Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry" and "Boys State."

Became a fan of Eugene Levy many years ago when he starred with John Candy in a hysterical movie called Armed and Dangerous. Fyi

Nice. They were also in Splash together (w/ Tom Hanks) 2 years before that, which was when I first discovered him.

He is truly a Canadian treasure.
