Apple TV+ has added new cast members to its upcoming drama series "Bad Monkey," including Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Meredith Hagner.
The trio of actresses join previously announced cast member Vince Vaughn, Variety reported Thursday. The show is being written by "Ted Lasso" co-creator Bill Lawrence, and Marcos Siega has signed on to direct the first episode and executive produce.
"Bad Monkey" is based on the 2013 Carl Hiaasen novel of the same name and tells the story of Andrew Yancy, a former South Florida detective who has been demoted to restaurant inspector.
"A severed arm found by a tourist out fishing pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas," a description of the series reads. "And yes, there's a monkey."
Monaghan will play Bonnie, described as a "mysterious woman trapped in an abusive, loveless marriage." Turner-Smith will play Dragon Queen/Gracie, a "reversed and feared" person on Andros, while Hagner will play Eve, a woman questioned by Yancy about her dead husband.
Lawrence is both writing and executive producing "Bad Monkey" under Doozer Productions. In addition to starring, Vaughn also executive producers alongside Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses, and Siega. Liza Katzer serves as co-executive producer.

If I had one criticism of AppleTV shows so far is....
Too many characters in a show hit the same buzzwords in their dialogue for no apparent reason. Like each episode has a keyword each character must hit at least once for the storyline.
It's like one writer is doing all the dialogue. They should expand the pool of writers.
I’m a Carl Hiassen fan and I am looking forward to seeing this made into a series. If you haven’t read any of his books, he is quite funny and a great storyteller.
