Apple has taken down its online Apple Store, "making updates" ahead of the opening of M2 MacBook Air preorders from 5 a.m. Pacific Time.
After unveiling the new M2 MacBook Air at WWDC 2022, Apple said only that it would ship in July. The company later announced it would begin taking orders on July 8, with initial orders being delivered by a week later, Friday, July 15, 2022.
The new M2 MacBook Air has been completely redesigned will start at $1,199 for the base model. With all possible customization options, it tops out at $2,499.
Typically Apple makes more of the two or three base configurations, then offers custom options for adding more SSD storage, more RAM, or preinstalling software. It's most likely that these custom options will sell out first.
The new MacBook Air is expected to see high demand, especially compared to the other M2 Mac announced at WWDC. That 13-inch MacBook Pro has generally been received poorly, as a minor upgrade, compared to the MacBook Air's overhaul.
Alongside a chassis redesign, the new M2 MacBook Air will include a pair of Thunderbolt ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and MagSafe with supported fast charging.
Stay tuned for deals on the M2 MacBook Air as inventory becomes available.
