This past week was busy for smart home users as Eve launched a new motion sensor, Thread 1.3.0 was released, and we defended HomeKit Secure Video on the latest HomeKit Insider podcast.
Last Thursday, Eve introduced its second-generation Eve Motion detector for HomeKit. It features a newly designed body and adds water resistance and a light sensor. Most importantly, it now communicates over Thread which should increase the reliability of triggering automations.
We also dove into the recent Thread 1.3.0 update. This was released to manufacturers and we'll see it arrive soon on Apple's own Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini.
There are a lot of little changes in this update but primarily it adds support for Matter, improves interoperability between router manufacturers, and makes updates easier to roll out.
Finally your hosts talk through a recent article that was critical of HomeKit Secure Video to discuss several inaccuracies that were mentioned.
