TikTok user turns iPhone into iBook G3 with 3D-printed case

TikTok creator @skipperfilms iPhone/iBook case

A TikTok user known for creating custom iPad cases has built a miniature iBook G3 case for iPhone.

The DIY community is full of creative individuals looking to revive some of Apple's nostalgic designs in modern technology. TikTok user @skipperfilms has become popular for building custom iPad enclosures that look like an iBook G3, but now he's back with something a little smaller.

A short TikTok video shows how the creator built a miniature version of his iPad case for an iPhone. It is much less complex than the original, but still functional.

The clamshell case is designed to look like a green iBook G3 with a tiny handle. The iPhone fits within an insert, held in place via what looks like a MagSafe magnet.

The base has a tiny Bluetooth keyboard. The two pieces are held together by small metal hinges.

@skipperfilms Replying to @unicorns.and.chickens Ok look, i dodnt expect to be inventing new things based off a single comment BUT HERE WE ARE. My #MINI #iphone #ibook build is here and #ADORABLE #fyp #foryoupage #StemDrop001 The Loneliest Time - Carly Rae Jepsen & Rufus Wainwright

The overall construction is much more simplistic compared to the iPad models, but the effect is still striking. It isn't clear if these will be sold alongside the iPad models.

Those interested in the iBook G3 cases built for iPad can check out the Skip Retro website. Cases are hand made and in very limited quantities and are sold for $1,000 each.

Sorry, but it is just dumb and projects the TikToker or whatever they call themselves,  has way too much time on their hands while lacking the ability to create original content.

Wow, you must be great at parties. This is just a side project for the creator, he's part of a video production company (owns it?) and they seem to do well.

Maybe keep comments like this to yourself. You don't have to like it. haha

When I was younger I would spend ample time creating things from scratch, it's sometimes about learning how to use the tools more than the final outcome. Onetime I took it on myself to build a mechanical plotter. It was tough, and buying one would've costed a lot less, not to mention trying to interface it with a computer took me ages. But in the end I became good at working with tools, building things, and writing code.

Let's see... the tiktoker had a creative project and retrofitted modern devices with iconic old enclosures and sells them for $1000 each... and many were sold out.

So, I guess, it's just dumb....
