The fate of Affinity's apps has been revealed, as has Apple's latest earnings report, while looking ahead we can anticipate an iPad mini with an OLED screen — but also ads in Apple Maps, all on the AppleInsider Podcast.

It's not like this was as exciting as an iPhone launch, but if you were an existing Affinity user, the last month has been tense. Now the much-awaited and actually much-feared update to Affinity has been launched — and it's almost completely good news.

Which is what you can say about Apple's earnings, too. It does seem to always be good news, but this is where we can see just how big a hit the new iPhone 17 range has been.

It's not as if Apple was likely to post a loss. But you don't get to be a $4 trillion company leaving money on the table — and Apple reportedly has plans.

From 2026, it's claimed that Apple Maps will include ads. If your first reaction is that this is bad news, if your second is that this is just like Google Maps, you're right.

Yet there is actually an argument that this could be a good move for Apple Maps users. Seriously.
