Mattel is offering 30% off select items, like Barbie and Hot Wheels, when shoppers check out with Apple Pay as a joint promotion of Apple's service.

It's the holiday season, and Apple generally ramps up its offering with more partnerships and promotions that promote Apple Pay. This time, it's Mattel that's offering discounts on select products.

Mattel controls the promotion via its website. Apple Pay works only as the method that triggers the lower price with the APPLEPAY coupon applied.

Apple Pay supports a wide range of stored cards, which makes the deal accessible for most customers. Shoppers can use an Apple Card, a debit card, credit card, or other supported bank cards inside Apple Wallet to perform an Apple Pay purchase.

Three products: a red toy car with open hood, two Salvador Dali figures, and a colorful Magic 8 Ball on a white stand.

Mattel is offering an Apple Pay promo

The promotion runs on the Mattel Creations site until December 14. The offer excludes gift cards, memberships, shipping, and taxes, and it cannot be combined with other promotions except for shipping deals.

The $75 Apple Card referral program is back

On an Apple Pay related note, Apple is throwing Apple Card users a bonus, though only through its referral program. New customers who apply through a referral link and make a purchase within thirty days receive $75 in Daily Cash.

The person who shares the referral link doesn't earn a reward, and the bonus applies only to newly opened accounts. Apple has used the same structure in past versions of the program.

This is unrelated to the Mattel Apple Pay discount, of course, but Apple Card users will get an extra 2% cash back when using it for purchases made via Apple Pay. Mattel is not among the retailers that provide 3% cash back like Exxon or Apple.
