Most of the 512GB configurations of the MacBook Neo are now back-ordered between one and two weeks, although both silver models remain available for March 11, 2026.

The only conclusion you can truly draw from shipping delays is that if you want a device whose date has slipped back, you're going to have to wait. That is what's now happening with the new MacBook Neo.

Since Apple will never reveal how many devices it has made in which configurations, it can't really be said whether one version of the MacBook Neo is more popular than another. But you can say which colors are selling out.

Assuming that Apple hasn't just guessed wrong about which configurations of MacBook Neo would be popular, though, it is tempting to think silver is the least popular color.

Originally, there were two models of MacBook New - a 256GB one and a 512GB with Touch ID — and both came in one of four colors. Those are Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo.

All configurations were initially available for March 11, 2026. At time of writing, the silver models still are. But otherwise:

  • Blush 256GB — now March 16-23
  • Blush 512GB — now March 23-30
  • Citrus 512GB — now March 23-30
  • Indigo 512GB — now March 16-23

The Citrus and Indigo 256GB models also remain available for March 11. But otherwise, the range is now seeing between one and just over two weeks shipping delay.

All models will be available on March 11 from Apple Stores, however. But get there early.

The MacBook Neo has disappointed users who wanted a lower-cost laptop that could still run the same kind of intense tasks that a MacBook Pro can. It's certainly not the machine for 8K video editing.

But for its intended audience and the work they will tend to do, the MacBook Neo deserves to be a smash hit.
