While a leaker saying Apple's first foldable will be called the iPhone Ultra doesn't sound all that confident, he or she is just the latest to make the claim.

In March 2026 a previously unheard of leaker named WayLabs was the first to say the iPhone Fold would ship as the iPhone Ultra. Given the reports of high end Apple Ultra products following the firm's low end MacBook Neo, this leak could easily have been a guess.

Now the much better known Digital Chat Station has chimed in with the same story, albeit only warily. "Rumor has it that Apple's folding name is iPhone Ultra," says the report on Chinese social media site Wiebo, in translation. Digital Chat Station is a regular leaker, if only sporadically accurate, but normally he or she is more declarative about claims.

The leaker does further say that manufacturers in China are considering adopting the name, presumably in their cases and other accessories.

Previously it's been reported that Apple plans to use the name Ultra — or something like it — across many products too. The idea is that Apple may create a tier higher than Pro, and charge accordingly.

So AirPods Pro could become AirPods Ultra if the expected version with additional cameras is launched. Or the anticipated MacBook Pro with an OLED screen might be named the MacBook Ultra.

That's chiefly supposition at the moment, and as regards this latest rumor, Digital Chat Station describes this as potentially being just a temporary branding. He or she does also say that "the screen shape, chip hardware and price" have been set.

Separately, it was reported that the iPhone Fold was in manufacturing testing at Foxconn, but then that problems were found which mean the device is delayed.

Dummy units purportedly of the iPhone Fold have also recently been leaked. They appear to show that the device will not have MagSafe, which means a product named Ultra and costing more than any previous iPhone, may be lacking this key feature.
