Case maker LifeProof on Tuesday announced a new addition to its NEXT lineup of phone accessories, debuting a MagSafe-compatible case for iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 mini.
Like their stablemates, the new NEXT with MagSafe cases boast a two-piece design made from 50 percent recycled plastic. The material is strong enough to withstand drops of up to two meters while keeping out dirt, snow and debris.
NEXT with MagSafe is not waterproof, though iPhone 12 itself carries an IP68 rating and can be submerged in 6 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.
New for the NEXT line is MagSafe integration, allowing users to juice up their iPhone with first- and third-party MagSafe chargers. Accessories like magnetic car and desk mounts, wallets, and more can also be attached via MagSafe.
As part of LifeProof's water sustainability program, the company is donating $1 of each purchase to charity. Customers can register their product online and select from non-profit partners Water.org, Coral Reef Alliance, American Rivers, and Oceana.
NEXT with MagSafe for iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro is priced at $89.99 and comes in clear, clear/black and clear/lavender color options. An iPhone 12 mini version with identical color options is available for the same price.
LifeProof says a NEXT with MagSafe case for iPhone 12 Pro Max is in development and should be up for sale soon.

$90 is absolutely insane for a thick ass clear plastic case. There are known name brands with similar products for like a third of that price, and cheaper no-name brands for a third of that. I can't imagine how you'd even attempt to convince someone this product is worth this price in this kind of market.
I thought ip68 was water resistant to about 6feet, not 6 meters. I think the article is wrong.
