'iPhone 13' max charging could get increased to 25W, claims sketchy rumor

Apple no longer includes a charger with iPhones

Apple is unlikely to reintroduce chargers into its shipping iPhone boxes, but a new report says that it may sell a 25W one. Citing unspecified second-hand sources, the report further claims that some, but not all, "iPhone 13" models will be able to use the faster charger to its fullest.

Adding to the questionable nature of the claim, China-based Fast Technology, notes that Apple's previous 18W charger has just now been removed from sale, and a new 20W version introduced. However, Apple made this change in late 2020.

Citing unspecified secondhand sources in the supply industry, the publication claims that the "iPhone 13" may increase fast charging to 25W. The report also seems to conflate external AC adapter power with charging power, which isn't the case. Apple's 20W charger will deliver 15W of power to the iPhone.

However, as it notes, the increase from 20W to 25W will not make a significant difference to the speed of fast charging.

This appears to be the first speculation about a change to the iPhone's charger. Separately, more credible reports have said that the will increase its MagSafe wireless charging to more than its current 15W.
