Apple TV+ 'Strange Planet' animated series gets debut date

The much-awaited Apple TV+ adaptation of webcomic "Strange Planet" will begin streaming a 10-episode series in August.

First announced in 2021, the TV version is co-created by "Strange Planet" comic author Nathan W. Pyle, and "Community" creator Dan Harmon.

"Based on the 'New York Times' no. 1 bestselling graphic novel and social media phenomenon of the same name, 'Strange Planet' is a hilarious and perceptive look at a distant world not unlike our own," says Apple. "Set in a whimsical world of cotton candy pinks and purples, relatable blue beings explore the absurdity of everyday human traditions."

The show is voiced by Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn, Hannah Einbinder , and "Community" star Danny Pudi.

Episodes will stream weekly on Wednesdays from August 9, 2023, to September 27, 2023.

Finally an adult animation on TV+ that doesn’t have annoying straight faced lame humor and stupid showtunes.

I take it it’s not for kids?

Not having seen the show yet, I can’t say — but the welcomic is mostly family-friendly and really encourages critical analysis thinking, which I’d also call important for kids (and most adults these days, sadly).

According to creator Nathan W. Pyle (via Facebook) it’s for the whole family.
