iPhone 17 Air could feature a 6.7-inch display, contradicting previous rumors

The iPhone 17 Air could have a 6.7-inch display.

The long-rumored iPhone 17 Air may be equipped with a slightly larger display than originally anticipated, according to a source with a mixed track record.

As part of its 2025 iPhone lineup, Apple is expected to replace its existing Plus model with an ultra-thin model known as the iPhone 17 Air or Slim. Though multiple analysts and leakers have all claimed the device is in the works, there seems to be a lack of consensus in terms of hardware specifications.

In 2024, display analyst Ross Young said that the iPhone 17 Air would feature a 6.55-inch display, which Apple would likely round up to 6.6 inches. Another analyst, Jeff Pu, made the same claim in October 2024.

YouTuber Jon Prosser seems to disagree, however. As noted by MacRumors, he claimed that the device would have a 6.7-inch display in an appearance on the Recycle Bin podcast. Prosser also made claims about the device's supposed thickness, saying that it will be 5.64mm thick without the heavily rumored rear camera bar.

Prosser's number seems plausible, but his claims should be taken with a grain of salt given his track record. That said, the existing iPhone 16 Plus the new iPhone 17 Air would replace currently has a 6.7-inch display, so we're rating it possible.

Despite his initial success, being the first person to leak the AirTag design, many of Jon Prosser's more recent claims have outright failed to materialize. For instance, he spoke of a rumored iPhone 4-style redesign for the iPhone 14, an Apple Watch with flat edges, and Steve Jobs edition Apple smart glasses, none of which ended up becoming a reality.

The YouTuber has also shared questionable renders of the iPhone 17 Pro, showcasing the alleged design of the device. Prosser's renders all feature a radically redesigned camera bump, something which has been rumored by less than reliable sources since December 2024, but the credibility of this rumor remains unclear.

Overall, Prosser's claims about the iPhone 17 Air are not outlandish, but it's worth emphasizing that two different analysts disagree. Although, Young's rumor is nearing a year old and things can change in that time.

With the new 16e there’s no point to a 17 Air. The 16e should have been $100 less. Then the Air would have a place.

Would like to see the 5.8 inch screen return.  The 6.1 is at the limit of using with one hand.  Anything over that is just too big

The 17 Air is likely to be more premium, priced close if not identical to an iPhone 17 Pro, but with alternative premium features that prioritize thinness.
