Apple's second wave of fall update betas adds iPhone Mirroring

Developers can start to try out Apple's new betas.

The second wave of fall system update builds follow after the first, which arrived after the WWDC keynote on June 10.

The betas are for iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, as well as visionOS 2.

This is not the only developer beta track Apple is operating. It is doing the same with 17-generation operating system updates, which is still the company's current operating system generation.

The second developer betas of iOS and iPadOS 18 are build number 22A5297f, replacing the first, 22A5282m. The second tvOS 18 build number is 22J5305e, up from the first, 22J5290l.

The second watchOS 11 developer beta is 22R5299d, taking over from 22R5284o, and the second macOS 15 Sequoia developer beta build is number 24A5279h, replacing 24A5264n. The second visionOS 2.0 developer beta is build 22N5267g, while the first was 22N5252n.

Beta testers can expect a few additions in the second round for iOS 18. Apple has confirmed SharePlay upgrades and iPhone Screen Mirroring is being included in the new build.

The confirmation was part of Apple's response to stories that it may abstain from offering Apple Intelligence and other major new operating system features in the European Union, due to Digital Markets Act interoperability mandates.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise users avoid installing test operating systems or other beta or RC software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
