Third macOS Sequoia developer beta arrives, two days after the rest

macOS Sequoia features iPhone Mirroring as a new feature.

Last updated

Arriving later than the rest of the fall OS betas, Apple has now issued the third developer beta for macOS Sequoia.

Apple's beta testing releases usually land simultaneously, but sometimes there are stragglers. In this case, it's macOS Sequoia, following after the issuing of the third developer betas of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 on July 8.

The third macOS 15 Sequoia beta is build number 24A5289g, replacing the second build, number 24A5279h.

New features arriving in macOS Sequoia include the inbound Apple Intelligence, easier window tiling, text effects in iMessage, Safari Highlights, the Passwords app, changes to Photos, Freeform scenes, the Game Porting Toolkit 2, and iPhone mirroring, among other changes.

At the same time as updating macOS Sequoia itself, APple has introduced a beta release of the Game Porting Toolkit 2, which game developers can also shake down.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly insist that users avoid installing test operating systems or other beta or RC software on "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should instead use secondary or non-essential hardware and ensure they have sufficient backups of their critical data at all times.
