Former Apple COO Jeff Williams is retiring at the end of 2025, replaced by Sabih Khan, and his other responsibilities in Health, Fitness, and watchOS are moving to Craig Federighi and Eddy Cue.

Jeff Williams served as Apple COO from 2010 to 2025 and is finally ready to retire at the end of the year. He passed his role as COO to Sabih Khan, but his other responsibilities remained in question until now.

According to a report from Bloomberg, the health and fitness roles will fall to Services chief Eddy Cue, while watchOS is moving to SVP Software Engineering Craig Federighi.

The report also suggests the health and fitness move to Eddy Cue is part of a larger strategy to launch Health+. This is referring to the "AI coach" that was rumored previously paired with other services, with an expected launch in 2026.

There have been a few other leadership movements among the health and fitness teams. Sumbul Desai will now oversee both teams, reporting directly to Eddy Cue, with Jay Blahnik under her.

Blahnik lost his role as team lead after accusations of misconduct overseeing the Fitness team, though Apple denied this behavior.

Apple Watch hardware is now totally under Apple SVP Hardware John Ternus.

Williams used to oversee hardware and software design, but those are moving under Molly Anderson and Alan Dye. They will handle hardware and software, respectively, and report directly to CEO Tim Cook.

The report also suggests that Apple VP Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives Lisa Jackson may also be considering retirement. She is 63 years old and will be 64 in February.

Apple will likely see a lot of leadership changes in the coming years since many have been in their positions for years and will retire soon. Don't be surprised if multiple succession plans are revealed between now and 2030.
