Soon, Apple will launch the iPhone 17 lineup and with it, several new accessories. Here's what the rumors claim that Apple has in the works.

Apple is rumored to be releasing three case designs, as well as a bonus accessory.

iPhone 17 silicone case

Kicking things off with Apple's colorful line of silicone cases. The new iPhone 17 lineup is rumored to get an updated assortment of colors for this yearly accessory.

Bu says the new colors will include Midnight Black, dark blue, grey blue, Fog Purple, deep orange, pale orange, celadon, and Grass Green. That's eight total colors for launch.

Eight smartphones with colorful cases, including orange, yellow, green, purple, blue, and black, are displayed in two rows against a white background.

All the colors of Apple's new silicone cases

There were unsurprisingly, other colors reportedly in the mix including a poppy Carambola yellow color, though they were nixed. Apple typically launches seasonal colorways, so it's possible we'll see them down the line, such as in the spring.

As for the design, not much has purportedly changed. The cloned models appear to be the same silicone Apple has used in the past with darker buttons and integrated Camera Control cover and MagSafe.

Majin Bu repeatedly refers to the case as "liquid silicone," but it's unclear if that is something they came up with or a real marketing term Apple intends to use.

It's also worth noting that while these colors seem plausible and unsurprising, these aren't the first silicone cases that Bu has promoted. They showed off other "liquid silicone" cases in early August.

Those cases though were almost certainly not Apple's. They appeared to be knockoff clones of Casetify's popular Ripple cases.

iPhone 17 TechWoven case

Getting into the more interesting designs, we have Apple's second attempt to replace leather. Majin Bu says the new cases will be dubbed TechWoven.

The name, if true, is an interesting choice. It seems to acknowledge the disaster and disappointment that was FineWoven.

Five smartphone cases in dark grey, navy blue, green, purple, and redwood arranged on a wooden surface, each featuring a camera cutout and embossed logo.

The rumored new canvas-like TechWoven cases

TechWoven, in contrast to FineWoven, is more utilitarian with a more coarse woven canvas on the outside. They will also still retain Apple's color-matched anodized aluminum metal buttons that were hallmarks of its leather lineup.

The colors are black, blue, green, purple, and Sienna. Of course, they also include the Camera Control and MagSafe.

FineWoven, now discontinued by Apple, was terrible, and marred by extremely critical reviews from professionals and consumers alike. It wasn't durable, easily showed wear, and felt cheap in comparison to the leather cases they were meant to replace.

While Apple has ended production on its FineWoven cases with the iPhone 16 line, there's no word on whether we may get a TechWoven MagSafe Wallet or TechWoven Apple Watch bands.

iPhone 17 clear case

Most recently, Majin Bu has shared images of what they claim are Apple's redesigned clear case. This would be the biggest change Apple has ever made to this design.

The body is still clear, but now the back has an opaque white portion on the lower back, hiding the MagSafe magnets and Apple logo.

Apple's clear case may get a redesign

This design does align with the rumored iPhone 17 Pro redesign that would see a two-tone body. The edges and back of the iPhone would be metal, and the glass portion would be inset on the back for the wireless charging.

Bu states that Apple has also investigated various tints for this case as well. It's always possible that the white portion could come in multiple colors to match the color of the glass, but we've seen no evidence of that.

The design was backed up a second time by more reliable leaker, Sonny Dickson.

iPhone 17 crossbody strap

All other changes aside, all the new cases have one new feature in common. According to the cloned box for the TechWoven case, Apple is launching a new crossbody strap.

An orange plastic strap with a loop on one end and two metal rivets at the other end.

The design of Apple's rumored new strap

Majin Bu then doubled down on this by showing what they believe is the design of the strap. It's made of a woven nylon, though a silicone version isn't out of the cards.

The strap appears to be magnetic, clinging to itself when not worn. Bu also mentioned a unique connection system, though that isn't shown in the photos, nor in any cases "leaked" so far.

Six colorful woven straps in purple, black, blue, green, orange, and brown are laid out on a wooden surface.

Apple could do something similar to the iPod touch, which had a pop-up button that held its lanyard. None of the leaked case designs show this, though, with the only holes being on the lower corners as the anchor points.

It's also unclear exactly the benefit of this magnetic system other than adding quite a bit of weight. It's very reminiscent of Apple's magnetic Apple Watch bands, though those have more of a purpose.

Apple has worked on similar concepts in the past, though. With the iPhone 12, it launched a full cover that included a strap.

Third parties have been making cases with straps for ages, and the popularity seems to be growing. Perhaps that's why Apple decided to try its hand at it once again.

Some doubts about authenticity

Majin Bu has a bit of a shaky track record of late. Many of their predictions or "leaks" were fakes stolen from Chinese social media and passed off as their own — or just wrong.

All the cases Majin Bu has shown are also likely clones, not the real McCoy. As Bu states, they're likely one-to-one knockoffs from those who have seen Apple's designs as they are manufactured.

While we can't confirm the provenance of all of these cases, we've started to see more evidence from additional sources and they're worth summarizing ahead of their announcement.

All will be revealed soon enough. The new cases will be announced alongside the iPhone 17 at Apple's "Awe Dropping" media event on September 9th.
