As the expected iPhone Fold should now be in production, a leaker claims to have details of its storage options — and its top price.
Despite all of the rumors, there is still doubt that there will be an iPhone Fold in September 2026 because of how few solid leaks there have been. Now, though, leaker Instant Digital claims to have both storage capacities and prices.
In a post on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Instant Digital says that the configurations will be:
- 256GB $2,325
- 512GB $2,645
- 1TB $2,905
These prices are translated from Chinese yuan and are specifically said to be for the models released in China. Apple does vary prices internationally, often raising them, but traditionally it has kept the Chinese and US the same.
Leaker Instant Digital has a reasonably good track record. One reason to doubt the figures, though, is the price ladder between them.
If these are correct, it would cost $320 to upgrade from 256GB to 512GB, and a further $260 to go to 1TB. With the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, it also starts at 256GB then it's $200 for 512GB, and $200 more to go to 1TB.
That said, Apple is facing the same shortages of storage and RAM as other manufacturers, to the extent that it is sometimes paying suppliers double its previous figures. So this could be Apple passing on some of that increase to buyers.
How the iPhone Fold fits into the range
Back in 2017, the iPhone X was the first iPhone to cost more than $1,000. In 2025, you could spend just about $2,000 on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Now if these leaked prices are correct, it's going to be possible to buy an iPhone Fold at about $3,000. But maybe more significantly, the starting price will be around $2,500.
Unlike the iPhone X and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, though, the iPhone Fold cannot be Apple's highest-specification iPhone. It will be beaten in every way by the lower cost iPhone 18 Pro models, except for having a foldable display.
Apple might position this as being effectively both an iPhone and an iPad. But a 1TB iPhone fold is seemingly going to cost the same as a 1TB iPhone 17 Pro Max and a 512GB Wi-Fi + Cellular iPad mini.
Separately, another rumor claims that the iPhone Fold will instead be called the iPhone Ultra. It claims that this is part of a whole range of Ultra models, which are expressly intended to raise the price and profit margin of Apple's highest-specification products.
